Phone interviews can be conducted in Zoom. Attendees will be able to access the meeting from a computer or they can call into the meeting from a phone. There are a few items that the meeting Host will need to address, before and during the meeting.
Before the Zoom Meeting
In advance of the meeting, someone will need to schedule/edit the meeting. The meeting settings should include the following:
- Security - Enable a Waiting Room
- Video - Select Video Off for both Host and for participants.
- Audio - Confirm Audio is set to Both, allowing for both computer audio and dial in.
During the Meeting
Once In the meeting, the Host (or Co host) should:
- Check (and possibly change) a few Security Settings. Click on the Host Tools icon to display the menu and confirm the following selections:
- A checkmark next to Enable Waiting Room. When checked, Waiting Room is enabled.
- A checkmark next to Hide Profile Pictures. When checked, only names will be displayed.
- NO checkmark next to Start Video. When unchecked, participants will not be able to turn on their cameras. Note: Hosts and CoHosts are still able to start their videos, so make sure that others know that they should not turn on their cameras.

- Monitor the waiting room.
- This is best done by clicking on the participant's icon. The waiting room is at the top of the list. You can allow individuals in one at a time, by hovering over their name and clicking on Admit.
- You can move a participant to the waiting room, by hovering over their name in the participant's list, clicking on the three dots, and selecting Put in Waiting Room.
- You can also chat with those in the Waiting Room, by opening the chat, clicking on the context menu next to everyone, and selecting Waiting Room Participants.
