Welcome to the College of St. Scholastica!
This article outlines important information to get you started on your journey at The College of St. Scholastica. From tips and tricks to where to get help, we are here for you!
A quick guide to terminology:
- CSS ID: Also frequently called your "B-number." Always begins with a B or a V. This should never be used as your password. You will need to know this number to activate your account, reset your password, and to verify your identity. To find your CSS ID number, you can go to css.edu/accountlookup.
- CSS Username: Created using your first initial and last name, sometimes with a number.
- CSS Email: Your username@css.edu. This is used to log in to my.css.edu and your email, which is Scholastica’s official communication channel.
- Password: A string of characters set by you using the Password Reset tool. Your password is the same across all CSS systems, including Banner and my.css.edu.
- Multifactor Authentication (MFA): Multifactor Authentication, also known as Two-factor authentication, is a second layer of security to the login process.
- Banner Web and Banner Self-Service: In this application, you can manage personal information, register for courses, view grades, access financial aid details, make payments online, and so much more.
- Brightspace: Also known as my.CSS or D2L. This is the College’s learning management system and campus portal. It will be the hub for everything you need as a student or employee. You can find it at my.css.edu
- TeamDynamix: Also known as TDX, this is a centralized location for services, knowledge repositories, and College policies. If you need assistance, you can find TDX at services.css.edu!
Getting Started
Your CSS account is used to access my.CSS, your email, Banner, TDX, and most College systems, including the on-campus lab computers. To get your account set up, you will need a few things:
- A computer that meets or exceeds the minimum Technology Requirements. Please note: Chromebooks, phones, and tablets most likely do not meet these requirements!
- A mobile device for Duo Multi-Factor Authentication. Phones and tablets are acceptable. Once you sign up, you will need your Duo-enrolled device when you log into most CSS systems.
- Your CSS ID. You should have received this in an email upon acceptance. You can also look it up at css.edu/accountlookup.
- Your alternate contact information. This is usually the personal email and phone number you applied with.
Once you have these, you will need to do the following:
- Activate your account: Please see the Activate Account - New Students and Employees service for detailed instructions.
- Log in to my.css.edu: Upon login, you will be prompted to set up Duo, CSS’s MFA app. Please see the Duo First Time Enrollment article for detailed instructions.
- Log in to your CSS email. From your my.css.edu homepage, click the “Email” button on the upper left. You can also access your email directly at email.css.edu. This is the College's official communication channel, so we suggest you check it at least once a day.
