Service Organizations and Community Activities

Issued By Institutional Advancement

Effective Date: March 7, 1986

Revised: February 1993; March 1996; September 2003; July 2007

The College encourages its faculty and staff to participate in service organizations and community activities, particularly those in which a direct impact can be achieved by the institution. This impact could be exposure for the College and the opportunity for interaction with the community as well as professional development. When such activities are being contemplated on behalf of the College, employees must obtain the approval of their supervisor. Depending on the activity, employees may be required to flex their time and/or use vacation to participate in such activities.

The College will sponsor individuals in each of the major service clubs in Duluth or Superior.

Membership in private clubs will be determined on a case-by-case basis; the President's Staff will make the final decision whether or not the College will pay the dues.
