I. Purpose
Staff Emerita/Emeritus status is an honorary designation awarded to retiring staff members who have demonstrated sustained excellence, significant institutional impact, and faithful service to The College of St. Scholastica (CSS). This designation recognizes meritorious service and continued connection to the College community.
II. Definitions
Good Standing: The employee is not subject to active disciplinary action, investigation, or unresolved performance proceedings at the time of retirement.
III. Policy
To be eligible for Staff Emerita/Emeritus status, a staff member:

Should have completed at least fifteen (15) years of full-time service at The College of St. Scholastica.*

Must be retiring from the College in good standing.

Should have demonstrated sustained contributions that reflect the College's mission and Benedictine values.

Must express a desire to accept the emerita/emeritus designation and its associated expectations.

Emerita/Emeritus status is granted at the discretion of the President and is not automatically conferred based solely on years of service or retirement.
The designation may be revoked if an individual's actions are determined to be inconsistent with the mission or values of the College. Individuals granted Staff Emerita/Emeritus status are eligible for the rights and privileges established by the College.
*Exceptions to the years-of-service guideline may be considered in extraordinary circumstances involving exceptional contributions to the College.

All staff of the CSS community who meet the eligibility requirements.
