The College helps employees save on the cost of medical and dental insurance by arranging for them to pay their portion of the premiums with pre-tax dollars. All insurance-eligible employees with health and/or dental coverage automatically participate in this benefit. Employees' retirement and disability benefits are always calculated on their full salary, not the reduced taxable salary. However, the employee's Social Security benefits may be slightly reduced because they are paying less in Social Security taxes.
