Eligibility For Rehire
Staff who voluntarily resigned or were laid off will be eligible for rehire based on College records. Former employees who had a less than satisfactory work record are excluded from rehire consideration.
Service restoration rules for eligible employees:
- If a former employee with less than one year's prior service in a benefits-eligible position is rehired, the employee will be considered a new employee and will not be eligible for prior service recognition for benefit plan participation purposes.
- If a former employee with more than one year's prior service in a benefits-eligible position is rehired where the period of prior service exceeded the duration of the period of absence, the employee's prior service will be recognized for accrued leave plans and service awards.
- If a former employee with more than one year's prior service in a benefits-eligible position is rehired where the period of prior service is less than the duration of the period of absence, the employee will be considered a new employee.
Rehire Anniversary Date Adjustment
When recognition of prior service is granted, a rehired employee's anniversary date will be adjusted in accordance with the service restoration rule.
