Staff or Faculty Working Second Positions as Resident Directors

Issued by: Human Resources

Effective Date: March 10, 2023

The College occasionally has open Resident Director (RD) positions that require on-campus living and are compensated by the College providing room and board. If a full-time salaried staff or faculty member is interested in one of these positions, they should discuss this with their supervisor before applying to get approval that this second job can be accommodated. The hours for the RD position are usually nights and weekends but there are occasional meetings and trainings that must be attended during the day.

If no qualified full-time faculty or salaried staff apply for the open RD positions, the College will consider part-time salaried staff, part-time regular faculty, or full-time graduate students who do not hold another primary hourly position at the College for the open positions.

If no qualified part-time salaried staff, part-time regular faculty, or full-time graduate students who do not hold another primary hourly position at the College apply for the open positions, consideration will be given to those who are adjuncts at the College and to those not currently employees or full-time graduate students. For consideration, part-time graduate students must not hold another hourly position at the College.

The limitations noted above regarding salaried status and students without another primary hourly position are due to Department of Labor regulations.
