Residency Requirement

All traditional-aged students who have graduated high school the same spring as their enrollment to CSS are required to live on campus for two years and have guaranteed housing at this time. Due to limited space, we are unable to guarantee housing for all upperclass students but we are offering housing to as many upper class, transfer and graduate students as we are able. If a student wishes to seek an exemption to this residency requirement, they must complete the Commuter Request Form (login required) and be approved by the Director of Residential Life. PSEO (Post-Secondary Enrollment Options) students who completed college coursework while still enrolled in high school are required to live on campus based on their high school graduation year date, similar to other students. Students who have scholarships that require them to live on campus must fulfill those residency requirements.

Commuter Policy

On the Commuter Request Form, students can mark a variety of options:

  1. Financial exemption (requires you to do the additional financial exemption form)
  2. Marriage
  3. Documented medical (requires you to work with the Center for Equal Access)
  4. Student teaching/internship
  5. Living with a legal guardian within 25 miles of the College
  6. Living with a parent at a permanent address within 25 miles of the College

Students whose permanent address is within a 25-mile radius of CSS are permitted to complete the Commuter Request Form (login required). Commuters must reside at the permanent address of their parent or legal guardian and provide documentation to show that status. Students cannot live and commute with family members, friends, etc. unless that person is at their permanent residence and is a parent or has obtained legal guardianship. These forms are reviewed weekly by the Director of Residential Life (after April 15th annually for new incoming first-year students).
